What is the Baptist Temple?

The Baptist Temple is a local, independent, fundamental, New Testament church. A church is not a building, or a denominational hierarchy, but a local called out body of believers in Jesus Christ, assembled together for worship and exhortation.

Why is the Baptist Temple here?

Matthew 28:19-20 is the great commission to the church and plainly states its purpose.Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Why should you attend church regularly?

If you are saved:
-To worship God
-To grow in knowledge and spiritual strength
-To encourage others by the testimony of your faithfulness
If you are not saved:
-That you might realize your need for Jesus Christ as your Savior
-That you might find purpose and direction for your life
-That you may escape the ruin and heart-break of sin

About

In 1967 Lake City Baptist Temple was formed as a mission of Arlington Heights Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. It was started in a small house on Oak Hill Street with 5 members. It was one of the first churches in the 1970s to accept all races for membership. All are welcome here. In 1980 a Christian school was added for grades K-12, an Advancement of College Prep Studies, also Discipleship courses for spiritual learning. In 2023 the name was shortened to Baptist Temple. We are an Independent Baptist Church that believes in the fundamentals of the Christian faith (Virgin birth, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ). We reject that we are a denomination and are Baptist only in doctrine. We support missions and the spreading of the Gospel around the world. All are welcome.

What we believe at the Baptist Temple

The Bible

We believe it to be the verbally inspired Word of God. It is the only complete and final revelation of God to man in this age, and is the standard and guide of conduct and action for the believer and the church.

The New Birth

Except a man be BORN AGAIN he cannot see the Kingdom of God. (John 3:3)As many as received him, to them gave he gave power to become sons of God-which were born not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13)

The Blood

Without the shedding of blood is no remission (of sin). (Hebrews 9:22) Even so the Son of man came - to give his life to ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28)

The Blessed Hope

This SAME Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in LIKE MANNER as ye have seen Him go into heaven. (Acts 1:11)For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

Eternal Life For Believers

And I GIVE unto them eternal life and they shall never perish...(John 10:28)
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life. (John 3:36)
